Surjit Singh: Sir, you have had a long experience with this Rana Tharu community. You have seen this community and its seniormost organization grow from a seed to a tree. How do you view some of your forgotten experiences?

Peeling back the layers of his memories, a respected elder of the society said: “Surjeet ji, when I look back, the journey of our Rana Tharu community fills my heart with pride. I remember when we first gathered for the meeting of ‘Nogwan Thaggu Vikas Samiti’. It was the year 1961, and the condition of our community was very simple—limited resources, limited education, and struggle everywhere. But there was one thing that was unlimited—our hopes and our dreams. The determination of Om Prakash Singh Rana ji and his companions like Ramesh Chandra Rana, Bahadur Singh Rana and Madan Singh Rana—their hard work and dedication gave us a new direction.

I remember the first meeting was held at the house of late Babbal Singh Rana in Gurkhuda. There were 31 people there, and enthusiasm was clearly visible on everyone's faces. We all had the same question in our hearts—what can we do for our society? And in the same meeting it was decided that we will not only discuss, but also act. Gradually a new wave began to rise in the society. We took small steps, but those steps proved to be milestones for the future.

In 1965, when the Rana Tharu Council was formally registered, that day was one of the proudest moments of my life. It felt as if all of us together had laid a foundation stone for our society. There was the support of great leaders like Gopi Ram Rana, Jogidas Rana, and Badam Singh, who showed us the right direction.

Changes started coming in the society. We were not just talking about education or employment, but we were talking about self-respect and unity of the society. In every program of ours, be it education or cultural events, we tried to make the society aware and empowered. I am proud that we not only saved the heritage of our society, but also worked to hand it over to the new generation.

Then in the year 2004-05, 'Tharu Vikas Bhavan' was constructed. That building was not a structure of bricks and stones, it was a symbol of our hard work and dedication. People like the leaders of the society contributed a lot to it. For all of us, that building became a symbol of the strength and unity of our society.

Today, when I look back at this journey, I understand that it was not easy. There were many difficulties, but the unity of our elders and youth helped us overcome every difficulty. Every person in the society contributed to this journey, and this unity has made us so strong.

Now I want to tell all of you that this journey is not over yet. Today's generation has to take it further, to new heights. Like our elders, we not only have to dream but also make them come true. Rana Tharu Parishad is not just an organization, it is the soul of our society. It is our responsibility to keep it alive and make it more prosperous.

Surjit Singh Rana ji, I tell you that our journey should never stop. Our culture, our identity, and our unity should always remain. This is our real strength."
Surjit Singh Rana Ji: You have given us very good information, indeed you all have strengthened the foundation of the society and on this foundation the society is constantly trying to move forward. Today's new young generation will definitely learn from your experiences and contribute in building the new Rana Tharu society. Thank you again.
